Comparison: Dog Skulls by CabinetCuriosities Comparison: Dog Skulls by CabinetCuriosities
Not all of ours but all I got my hands on today.

From left to right, from above:

1. Rottweiler
2. Boxer
3. Labrador
4. Border Collie
5. Poodle
6. Schnauzer
7. Spitz Hybrid
8. - unknown -
9. Dachshund
10. Australian Sheperd

What a pack!

All those dogs died from age or had to be put down due to illness.

It's weird for me that these dogs came from the vet.
I wonder if the owners have to give permission to have this done?

In my country most people either want to get their pet buried or cremated.
I always assumed and pets left "up to the vet" were either just mass cremated or thrown into the garbage.

Some pet owners are open minded towards science and therefore give permission for vets to 'use' the remaining parts.
Every other pets in our country get cremated, even horses. Of course you can pay for your pets to be buried too.

Another pretty important part is that some animal shelters also allow vets to take the remaining parts with them. I don't know if they allow that in Germany but definitely in the country where those two came from.

Many pieces are used for scientific purpose and studies.
