Anatomy: Arctic Tern #1

Published:
1.7K Views

Description

Species: Sterna paradisaea (adult)
Origin: Iceland

Info: On our first day in Iceland we found hundreds of dead arctic terns. Most of them adult, just like this one. They are protecting their nests and youngsters. Usually they are hit by cars they try to shoo away, which is pretty sad. The are so lovely and elegant birds. And we didn't take them with us. We drove by so many beautiful, dead birds. It was heartbreaking. But we managed to take some anatomy shots for you - from an adult and a juvenile bird. The juvenile one will be uploaded next.

That's quite sad. The Arctic Tern is my favorite animal. :( (Sad)
